Thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't cover my 15 yr old's eyes because I'd never take her to such a movie. Before we go to movies, I always check them out here.
Here's an excellent review of that movie. This review includes spoilers, so if you don't want to know about the movie, don't read it. You can just scroll down to violent content to see just how graphic the rapes are.
what is so wrong with that? Isn't that what a good parent is supposed to do?
I monitored all my kids' activities, Where they were going, whose house, who was driving,
if parents were going to be there, what time coming home, etc.

And you seem to think that is unusual?
I can see monitoring where your kids are and all that. But yeah movies at 15 is pushing it, because by that age your child already has seen what you are trying to hide them from :-P.

Big DEAL! BTW....if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say there's a hell of a lot of 15 year olds out there who have NOT witnessed sodomy! Good gawd the things you young people come up with! Frankly it's none of your business WHAT parents monitor in their underage children. If you ever have kids of your own, you will EARN the right to monitor or NOT monitor your own children. Until then, it's none of your business and you do NOT know what you will and will NOT monitor!

Are you aware of how easy it is to witness porn on a computer these days? Believe me most kids will by that age have watched it out of some level of curiosity. Of course you are right it's not my business to tell parents what they should or should not do, i'm just pointing out the fact that mointering a 15 years old net/movie usage is counterproductive since whatever you don't want them to see they have already seen . Also i know what i would monitor with a child being online, and movies aint one of the areas i find concern with.

Do realize that many of the parents who do monitor the movies their kids watch, also have parental controls on their computers? There is a difference between an underage child taking it upon themselves to sneak around and satisfy a curiosity....while it's a whole different matter to CONDONE and contribute to it. By not monitoring or censoring what underage children watch, and watching "age inappropriate" movies with them, you are condoning the behavior..placing your stamp of approval on the material.
It is none of my business if other parents allow it. It IS however, my business, how I raise my own children. I never have and never will, allow anyone else's opinions, dictate how I choose to raise my own children.

You realize parental controls are ridiculously easy to bypass don't you? Why would you think a 15 year old is not old enough to handle the watching r rated or above movies?

It depends on the movie, and the child. A movie with swearing, a little nudity, etc. may not be that big of a deal to most 15 year olds, and it's certainly nothing they've never seen or heard before. The movie in the OP that was being discussed had a very graphic and violent rape and sodomy scene. IMO, that is not appropriate for children OR teenagers. Knowing about rape in the context of awareness and prevention for teenagers is one thing, but actually watching a rape? Who wants to see that? Who wants their KIDS to see that?

LOL....Oh yes, I also know how easy it is to completely restrict access to a computer. It's called....administrative controls/passwords! FWIW...I have used them to get my point across. Abuse a priviledge...lose the privilege. As for appropriateness.....again, THAT is for me, as a parent to decide.....not you or anyone else! All rated R movies are certainly not created equal. As for ABOVE rated R movies for a 15 yr old?...... I'd just as soon not get booted off CD, so I'll simply not say anything further to you about THAT! WAFNJ!
