Helping your child to achieve self control is one of the biggest assists that you can give your child.

If a child has no attention span he cannot properly concentrate. If he cannot concentrate he will have difficulty learning.

Americans could take one tip from Asian and French parents: abandon the idea that they must support self-esteem at all costs.
Children do not benefit from routine empty praise, like the cries of “Good job!” that ring out over American playgrounds.
Chinese and French parents are sparing in their praise, yet children from those cultures do not have noticeably lower self-esteem.

I was wondering the same thing. However, if parents would follow that, their chances of having sucessful relationships later on in life would in increased and there would less whining and bitching in the CR-R section.

It's pretty clear half the young men and young women posting on the relationships forum did not have parents that helped them much at all - much less how to succeed in life and relationships

Teaching them how to achieve self control and self discipline would have been a good first step!

Sorry that I put this in the wrong forum to begin with. I just think 'Relationships' mean interpersonal dealings, within family or without. I thought 'Relationships' was a psychological sort of space and not exclusively boy/girl sexual stuff.
