I don't know. The warm months are fast approaching, aren't they? Soon you'll be able to get out the slip 'n slide, the sprinkler, water balloons, water guns. Time for some good clean fun.

Actually that's a good point, you could throw a bit of shampoo on it under the guise of making it more "slippery".

I know some guidance counselors have to pull kids aside to tell them about hygiene when odor is a problem at school. You could try to see if the boy's guidance counselor will do this. I have a relative who was told at school he needed to start using deodorant, and this talk worked very well for him.

My son is 11, but this is quite a problem, and I have tried lots of hints, both subtle and not so much with some of his friends. Honestly there's not much you can do. Surprisingly many people don't make their kids clean their bodies regularly. Very yukky in that age group. Volunteering in the 5th grade classroom is a very smelly experience.

Well in his case his mother shows the same issues, so i don't think he knows any better.

When I was in fifth grade, our teachers gathered all the girls in one room and the boys in another (there were just under 50 kids in my class), and they told us about sex and hygiene. My mom had asked me about deodorant already, but I don't sweat much so it wasn't a big problem. My parents were pretty blunt though. I don't have kids, but I wonder if some parents are too worried about hurting their kids' feelings. I had rather my mom or dad say something than my classmates who would humiliate me. I don't know.
