Oh, back to your original question.......YES!!! Painful!!!....... Jeannie

WOW!! the way you guys explain it. YIKES!! I have 4 kids, 2 natural and 2 w/ epidural. The difference is I had my husband by the neck of his shirt with the natural and I was watching "the price is right" and talking on the phone with the epidural. I don't know how I did it natural, well, yes I do they only lasted 1 1/2 hours, besides that the worst part was I couldn't numb up with the epesiotomy "How's that for pain." I felt every single stitch..

I have 2, the second was much much better with the epideral. My first one I had all back pain, never felt a contraction due to the intense pain I was in, they waited too long for the epideral so it never took affect. Like someone said earlier when I was pushing for over 2 hours I felt like my feet were hooked to two seperate tractor trailers going in opposite directions and I was being ripped apart.

I've had two...and it was pretty painless. I'm not sure what the big deal is. I'd like to have 2 more if that certain someone else does! And then the fun begins. Once I pick a newborn up it's really hard to put them down. I can just sit and rock them for hours. And they smell good too!

I have to admit this thread was very fun reading - I enjoyed everyone's contributions! Leave it vasinger to ask a question like this. I would venture to say that what it "really" feels like to have a baby cannot ever be fully explained to a man, to the point where he might be able to imagine it. Not unlike trying to imagine what it would be like for a parent who has lost a child if you have not experienced it first hand - you have an idea, but the reality of the situation cannot be felt unless you're actually in it.

I have had two and they were both big (1st one was 9 lbs 8 oz, 2nd was 11 lbs 6 oz) and both entirely different experiences. Won't go into the details, but suffice it to say that despite going through all of it, I still look forward to having more some day if that is what my future holds. Best part of my life, bar none.

hahahahahahaha.

There are some really great descriptions here!
I had my ONE and only au naturale. I went into back labor and, according to the nurses, I was saying a bunch of stuff they couldn't understand. Yeah, I was in Peru and was cursing in English!!!
My water had to be broken. THAT in the middle of a contraction has to be the most excruciating thing. Then I delivered 3 hrs 15 min later.

Do any of you remember The Hulk? I never knew I had that kind of strength. Two pushes and out he went. Damnned if I was going to push anymore.

Yes, the episiotomy was the icing on the cake!

I remember the whole thing in vivid detail to this day (34 years later).

Saying "it hurts" doesn't even begin to describe it.

Nah, it doesn't hurt. first, get the dr. to give you as many drugs as you can possibly stand, then lay back and let her rip... now the next 3 months are pure torture!!
