I spend about 95% of my work day on the computer most of the time, so that would be a real challenge. Same with my husband.

At home it would be pretty easy. My daughter almost never chooses to do anything screeny during the school week. She'll sometimes make movies on the iPad or play a video game/watch something on a weekend morning but she's much more apt to read or make something or go outside. (It probably helps that we don't have a TV hooked up for viewing, so there's no channel surfing and no habit of having the TV on as background noise.) It's an unusual week if she uses more than an hour or two.

I do tend to watch something online in the evenings, either while I'm knitting (looking up at something keeps me from hunching over) or if I'm folding laundry or something like that. Keeping away from it for a week would be no problem, though.

Default I may need it most

Great suggestion! My husband and I individually impose our own "no screens days". Him on the weekends because he is a software developer. I had to do one last week because I had gotten involved in so many social network conversations that I seemed to be continually checking for responses! I ended up getting a lot of things done that day and my kids were happy and cooperative. The threads and messages and emails were there waiting for me the next day My children are still young and don't use screens everyday. As far as I can tell they do fine without those things and are happy when mom and dad are not preoccupied by electronics.
