I have a daughter with the potential to be asked. I already know that she would absolutely not even consider it. She's modest, and wise.

If I had a daughter that did agree to such a dumb thing, I'd look her in the eyes and tell her something like, "if anyone attempts to rape you after recognizing you, they'll be sick and wrong, but don't tell me I didn't warn you."

Yeah, I'm serious and I'd mean it, with no apologies.

Exactly. And besides, since when are college students so desparate for money? You're going to college for crying out loud, you're not starving in some alleyway with dreams of finally getting hired at Wendy's

Or maybe today's college kids are doing both; I can't keep up with the trends anymore...

In my college classes we sometimes do a couple of days on the business of pornography, its effect on society, etc. (i.e., the "academic" aspects of porn). From what I remember from the readings, the pay scale for those "college girl" issues was something like $250 for being dressed (e.g., wearing a bikini), $500 for showing your breasts, and $750 or $1,000 for being totally nude. My students were shocked that it was so low for a magazine as high-profile as Playboy.

A couple of years ago we read a news article on what women who posed thought about it 10-15 years later. One said it wasn't a big deal because she had posed in a bikini so there were no ramifications, but another who posed nude said she completely regretted it because 10 years after, she was a corporate manager and one of her male underlings got a copy of the old Playboy and passed it around the office to humiliate her (and it worked). She felt like her authority was completely undermined.

If I had a teenage daughter, I would definitely recommend against it. It reminds me of some friends/ students who ran the Naked Mile in Ann Arbor. That started out being this fun, silly thing that some seniors (especially men, although you'd never know it online) would do when classes ended, and it wasn't sexual at all -- actually it was pretty hilarious to watch. But tens of thousands of "outsiders" started coming in (not surprisingly) and dirty old men with cameras would take pictures of all the women who ran, posting them to the Internet an hour later. Those things will be accessible FOREVER, as will Playboy photos.

In this day and age, with so much free "stuff" out there on the internet, you would have to already be a celebrity to make any real money from posing in a publication. And I would imagine that any resulting opportunities for fame/fortune/success would be very, very limited.

On the other hand, the odds of an old photo coming back to bite you down the road are probably much greater. So just something to think about...
Playboy still pays well, that's why so many models aspire to it. How's a nude photo going to come back to bite you? Unless I'm lying and going around telling people I'm uncircumcised, it's not exactly like some dangerous truth will be exposed about me lol

If Playboy didn't pay so well, women wouldn't want to be in it. If you become an actual Playmate of the Month, you get even more. Am I to assume Jenny McCarthy, Pamela Anderson and Carmen Elektra are worse off for appearing in the magazine?

Well, Carmen Elekta is probably worse off for marrying Dennis Rodman but that's a whole other thread.

Do you understand how signing away the rights to your photographic image works? Once you sign the release that's it. The owner of the image can use it for whatever he/she wants forever. Connie Co-ed gets ONE payment. That's it. Hefner can make money from that photo FOREVER. And he can do whatever he wants with the photo he owns. Who is getting the better end of the deal?

Sorry, I have no idea how much Playboy pays. Of the many things I'm interested in that's at about number 13,110,263 on the list.

Very few have the success of those you mentioned. I doubt someone like Nancy Pelosi would have made it to where she is had she posed years ago.

The college issues mentioned in OP really do not pay that well, IMO to make it worth the while.

These girls aren't typically being asked in the case of what OP is talking about. They are signing up to go to a cattle call, typically with very low turnout.

I have no problem with nudity.

But is Playboy really selling just nudity?
