The question is whether he was really protecting the attack. I find it hard to believe that the predator was continuing to attempt the act after being discovered. It's more than likely that the predator stopped in horror of just being caught and the father taking aggressive action after the fact.

Actually the vast majority of molestation is done within a family environment. The notion of stranger danger is pretty archaic and not representative of the fact that aunt mary and uncle joe are far more likely to molest your kids then the guy or woman down the street.

I agree, this is why I have told my kids to pay attention to their gut instinct. If they see someone they know in the WRONG place, like if the next door neighbor shows up at school with some sketchy story about why I couldn't be there and they should go with him, when they know I would never send him, or asks them to go inside his house without me knowing--they need to be on guard.

It's not the strangers, it's the people the kids are either slightly acquainted with that can easily convince them to go somewhere or do something, or people they know quite well like relatives or family friends.

The sad part is you don't want to scare your kids but they need to be educated on what to watch out for.

I hope he isnt charged and if so take it to the jury !!
Huh? Any normal man would beat the crap out of a total stranger based on your say-so?

A good dad would do the same thing in that situation. I would kill someone who hit my kid much less tried to molest my kid.

If he actually did it... yes.

Good job to this dad, there's no way a jury is going to send this guy to prison. This is easily justifiable.

There is no justification for murder.
If you are cornered and kill someone before they kill you, you did what you
had to do to survive.
That is why this world is so f***ed up the way it is.
Everyone justifies killing in a million scenerios.
Human beings will never learn....war and killing will always be.

On one hand, you have the dad who needs to raise his kid. On the other hand, the molester's family needs justice.

I'd say two years in prison for the dad. Then wipe his criminal record clear.

What kind of sicko molests a 4 year old?

You call 5.3% "almost always"?

Within 3 years following their release, 5.3% of sex offenders (men who had committed rape or sexual assault) were rearrested for another sex crime.
