What do you send your child for lunch at school? I am new to making lunch for her to take and I believe if I make her a sandwich that the mayo is going to make it messy by the time she eats it. So what do you do? I thought about getting little packets of mayo to take with her a fruit, veggie and maybe a pudding cup or some crackers.

In my experience, mayo is fine on a sandwich as long as you don't get it all over the edges of the bread. No need to mess with packets. Stuff like lettuce and tomato make a sandwich soggy.

Cheese slices sometimes get soft and "greasy" over time. But I think it's good on a sandwich as well.

All your other options sound great, like a typical bag lunch. Let her help you choose, and then live and learn as you go, what works and what doesn't.

how old is she? When ever you pack a lunch think of what she can handle by herself and think of a poor teacher having to open 21 little packets, put straws in 21 juice boxes, open 21 little juice cups. Mayo will be fine.

I was non traditional. My kids ate fruit, cheese, crackers, veggies, granola bars, and took juice boxes. I rarely made a sandwich...but they did like banana and Nutella.

Interesting. Very artful. She must not work full time. And my kids...did well to remember to bring home backpacks...let alone little lunch containers.

Just don't over-do the mayo and it will be fine. I usually send a sandwich, a few crackers, a juice box,, and either a yogurt or an applesauce. Tube yogurt can be frozen and is thawed but still cold by lunch.

I don't think I would call a sandwich, goldfish crackers and an orange artful LOL. I can't imagine it taking more than five minutes to pack a lunch like the ones she shows. Everything is just thrown in a lunch box so I don't think it would be easily lost. I am going to go look at some of the pictures on the site again, maybe I am missing something?

My girls both like sandwiches sometimes, wraps ither times and then there were days they did the "tapas" thing... Some cheese, crackers, grapes,etc...
When they have sandwiches, it usually w/mustard only, they're not huge mayo fans.

You can do whatever you like though for lunches, you can buy the little ice packs to put in their lunch boxes too...

I do try to do different things to make it fun sometimes, but nothing extravagant! I use cookie cutters sometimes for the seasons, somerimes I make pb&j crackers instead of sandwiches, in the winter they take soup alot.....
