Clever parents handed out these notes to everybody on the plane letting them know they had ear plugs available in case the babies started to cry and bother them. Smart parents.

Wow. I think those are some of the most courteous people I've ever heard of. Kudos to them for taking care of their own family, and for making sure that people around them would be inconvenienced any more than was necessary by the children's first trip.

By the time our oldest was 14 month, he had been on about a dozen flights. Always passed out as soon as my wife fed him when we took off...slept the whole trip. Everyone always complimented us on what a great flyer he was. Of course, most young babies are like this...it's only when they get older (say when they reach 20 or 30... ) do they start to get real restless and cranky.

Nice idea.
I was immediately annoyed by the use of first person, ("We're only 14 months old!!") but I am just that kind of grump.

On a 737, that would be about 145 seats. Who has room to carry that much candy in little bags? And if everyone on the plane requested ear plugs? That means carrying an additional 145 sets of ear plugs, along with all the other paraphenlia you have with twins. Gee...I can barely get on board with a purse, and a laptop these days.

Well, some kind soul left me a message stating that I had read the OP incorrectly - and indeed they were right! I had absolutely misread the OP...not 14 months, but 14 weeks!
My wife and I took our firstborn on a plane when he was 2 months old...so, 8 weeks. We were nervous wrecks! We thought he would be fussing and howling the entire time. The thought of having all those annoyed looks at us, well, let's just say, I had a few sleepless nights before our trip. But, like I said, when they are that young, well, they don't do much more than feed, sleep, and poop.
The important thing to remember is to feed the newborns and young babies at take off and upon descent - the swallowing helps equalize the air pressure in their ears. That's what typically causes most young babies to start crying on planes.

My son is 20 months and has flown over 10 times. Only ONCE has he ever been fussy to where i was embarrassed and felt horrible. I apologized to the poor man next to me, but luckily he was an Australian guy who had a lot of younger brothers, so he was totally cool and tried to help the situation by making my son laugh. If more people would try to help the situation instead of get angry or annoyed, then people would be much better off.
However, since i fly southwest, its rare that the flights are fully booked (usually atleast one or two seats open), so I always sit in the very last row of the plane and no one wants to sit in the back , let alone next to a baby so i usually have the whole row to myself I always book our flights during nap time so that he sleeps the whole time.

When I read the title I immediately imagined dozens and dozens of babies crawling all over the airplane similiar to the movie Snakes on a Plane. The picture of the note & candy was cute but not as funny as the picture in my imagination.
P.S. Those parents had a very nice idea.
