Obviously, good parenting takes precedent....but, one simple maxim to live by?
I usually say, " Be good to yourself and do good to others." ...every morning.
You're alive. That means you have infinite potential. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.
Wow, I think it's hard to boil it down to one. I like the Golden Rule. But there are some many things I want her to know - I actaully write alot to my daughter just in case there isn't time to tell her everything I want to tell her...

You?
Thanks.
I tell kids two things constantly:
1) Think....Think before you open your mouth(is it going to help, encourage, &/or inspire or is it going to upset, bring down or cause problems) if it is the latter of the two, keep your mouth shut!! Think before you do...Actions are powerful, they can do a lot of good or a lot of bad..the choice is yours!!
2) (For the older bunch, teens & older) Look at your life a year from now.. where do you want to be, what do you want to be doing, what are the goals you want to have accomplished, How do you want others to see you....ok now you got the image, right? Now start doing things that will help you get there!! Stay focused, what you do & say today MATTERS to get you where you want to be!! What can you do today that will help you get closer to that dream?? Go and make it Happen!!
Be the person you want others to be. I say this one a lot.
