"Here's a quick Dad Quiz. You have a critical meeting at work but your child wakes up with a temperature of 101 degrees. Do you..."(etc etc).
Why does it seem that only moms are expected to be responsible for sick children (we're assuming a two parent household where both parents work outside the home)? When my kids were little and we both worked full time, my husband and I consulted each other regarding our schedule and made a plan for the day based on that. Often we tag-teamed.

Call me cold. But if they are a bit too sick for school, but not on their death bed, I am going to work.
Agree....age has a lot to do with it. I worked full time until my daughter was in third grade. At that point, one of us would stay home with her. Probably, if I'd have continued to work FT, at some point shortly thereafter, we'd have let her stay home alone depending on the situation.
I was lucky enough to have my Grandmother live with us, until my youngest was eight. At age 90, she could not do much, but she was fine with taking care of sick kids. At least she was there. And the dog was also a great nurse, the cat too.

What the 2nd poster said. Dads are capable of caring for children too.
Leaving a kid home alone sick just depends on:
1) Age and maturity of kid
2) Degree of sickness
