Do you make your children participate in some type of sport?

Do they enjoy it?

I don't "make" them. They choose to, so they enjoy them.

Same here Kibbiekat....only those sports(for us) are swimming, bicycling, or any other that doesn't require registration, or money.

My parents never required or forced me to play sports either. I wasn't great with gym and physical activity wasn't my strong suit.

Unless the child has an affinity for a particular sport, making them sign up to play will result in nothing but frustration for all involved.

We let our boys try everything at the relatively inexpensive recreational level. It was their decision to take it to a more competitive level.

Nope. Both do at present (they are wee ones yet), but if they choose not to later on that's fine. Our only rule is going to be that after making a commitment to a team, they have to see it through to the end of the season. Both enjoy the sports they've tried so far.

My children do one sport/physical activity because they said "yes, they would like to do X" but also because they have very few other outlets for physical activity - so yes, I kind of put them in it.
They are not passionate about it, but they go along with it.

They are 7 and 4 and I just want them running/moving a bit - given they both lean towards being physically inactive.
I would never EVER insist on competitive sports though.
If they had the drive and the talent, I would agree, but they have neither, so I don't need to worry about it.

My daughter is homeschooled and I do require her to exercise for an hour every day. We ride bikes when the weather is good. When it rains, she has a yoga dvd. I don't know if she enjoys it or not, I haven't asked.

May I ask why you home-school her?
