in the grand scheme of things, hardly anything else in the forum really matters compared to the shootings, so i agree with you there.
but perhaps your post would have been better suited just as a place to talk about cherising your family/children as opposed to pointing out a totally unrelated post?
You make a good point. I guess the Target thread has been annoying me for awhile, so that was my "target".

Ah! The voice of reason. Why don't the others get it?
What I should have done is stay away from a board that has people such as yourself posting. Did someone make you a moderator and forget to tell me? If not, don't tell me what I should have done.
Here's the connection between the two topics, in my opinion.
The school shooting has brought to the forefront of our minds how precious every child is. No child deserves to have his/her young life taken away, and it breaks our hearts to know this has happened.
Seeing a parent scream, belittle, or verbally abuse a child also breaks our hearts. No child deserves to be treated in such a horrible manner.
Clarification: I don't know exactly how bad the incident at Target was. Raising one's voice to discipline a child is one thing. But I have seen parents who are absolutely out of control, screaming at their child, saying horrible things to the child, and I just want to hug that child and tell them they are special and beautiful and do not deserve to be screamed at like that. I haven't actually intervened like that, but I do stop and smile lovingly at the child, let the parent know I am watching.
It's a head shaker when some individuals prioritize trivial forum posting semantics, in a combative manner, in response to someone who is clearly just trying to put parenting and the preciousness of children in perspective, for themselves and for us as parents, during one of our country's most horrific tragedies.
Is that the example you wish to set? Is that the type of catty and disrespectful behavior you'd be proud of from your own children?

Show some respect and compassion... and maturity.
I dont think that comment was disrespectful. it was true, if the OP had something to saw to the people in the Target thread, then thats where the comment belonged. The great thing about the internet is that we all have options and a certain forum is aggravating, then you dont participate. you cant control people. if people wanted to discuss something unrelated to the shootings you cant make their lives stop.
But like i said before, this is not to say that i dont understand why the OP feels that way, because i definitely do.
