Why do you have such a problem with what parents choose to do? It's their money. No one is passing you a collection plate to ante up. If a parent chooses to buy their child a gift (any gift) what possible bearing does it have on your life?

There is no "we". It's not your family. I just don't get it.

Because when the masses do something it does have a monumental change on everything.

So you either don't like change or you don't like any change you don't approve of.

Sorry. That's not how the world works. People make decisions. There are massive shifts in society. You can shake your finger. Withdraw from life. Adapt and change. Or accept that there are several other billion people on earth and go with the flow and enjoy the ride. The choice is your's. But no one is going to stop doing what they want because you don't like the monumental change that is occurring.

But, since this is a free country, if you have children you can ignore the finger shakers who don't like what you do. It all evens out.

The world survived rock 'n roll music -- I think it'll survive iPhones, too .....

How did my daughter's iphone (at 12 or so) and her macbook (at 14) and her ipad (at 18), affect you in the slightest?

You keep shifting the focus back to money. It's not about money for these parents. They don't hold money has as high of an importance as you do.
