By being in public she is making sure there will be no scenes or chances for real communication and nitty gritty discussion. She as usual, is calling all the shots and being in control. Refuse to go out to discuss your marriage in public. If you can't even discuss your marital problems in your own home why would it be any better in public?

HAVE YOU GONE TO AN ATTORNEY YET/ WHY ARE YOU SO RESISTANT TO EVEN LEARNING WHERE YOU STAND LEGALLY?

I told her that I'd much rather have dinner at home. She pouted a little but now she seems content with it

How many times has your wife been to family counseling and how many to marriage counseling?

Irish, your wife has had successfully controlled and manipulated you for 18 years so don't think it will be a quick process for you to recognize her ways and learn how to outsmart her. and it certainly won't be a quick process for her to even see change is needed much less actually change. But at least YOU are seeing the light and trying to implement some changes for the benefit of your son. Please see these changes are just as necessary for your own future.

It saddens me greatly that a young man of only 36 sees himself as too old to even date much less start a new course for his life. Don't you realize that many men aren't even thinking of marriage and children at your age? You do not have to settle just because this is the only life you've known.

AGAIN- WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO ATTORNEY?
