I think that's what you should have said to the teach based on the reasoning of them assuming she would be too quiet. The purpose of school is for development. With that said, it makes sense to give other students a chance to do their thing, so she should have just left it at that.

My elementary school had a sixth grade graduation ceremony. (We started Junior High in the 7th grade.) In the 1960's. Upwardly mobile area and no was was worried about us getting past 8th grade.
