Other than constantly being asked, regarding the redhead, "where did she get that red hair?" and "is she Irish?", I never had any issues with her not looking like me.

I have long straight dark hair and fair skin. My daughter had blonds curly hair when she was born. I can't tell you how many people asked if she was my biological child or if I was her nanny.
I would wonder too. I don't see anything wrong with asking, and hearing an explanation. I just might learn something new. Are parents taking offense at people noticing a difference? I don't know why you would. I'm sure no offense was intended, people are curious.
I don't have any children yet, but I do have a sibling (sister) who looks absolutely nothing like me. It didn't cause either of us any problems yet, though.
