They don't take out tonsils automatically like they used to...tonsils do serve a purpouse. Also, just removing them won't help all children...as not all apnea is caused by tonsils/androids. Never heard about the 'secreting of chemicals'....you might look into your source for that information a bit more.

Is it dark enough in your child's room? My son at that age could not sleep unless it was very dark in his room. We purchased blackout blinds and that helped him a lot. To this day he needs darkness to sleep well. Humidity is also important.

He also was a very heavy snorer and definitely not overweight. At about 3-4 years old I asked the pediatrician about it. He x-rayed the throat and sinus areas and sent us to an ENT. Nothing was found. He simply outgrew the snoring.

This really does not sound like sleep apnea if you're not hearing "breaks" in his breathing. My H has been diagnosed with sleep apnea following a sleep test. I vividly recall the breathing stops.
