I always used the "snot sucker" but finally gave up on cold medicine. I was lucky and never had to put a kid in day care but I know many of my friends' kids in day care stayed sick.
It looks kind of disgusting since you can see whats coming up on the clear tube, but it definitely sucks up tons of snot. Don't worry, it won't get into your mouth
For me, this works so MUCH better on my son than the regular bulb syringe that I got from the hospital.
Careful with those blue hospital issued bulb syringes. No one seems to clean them right let alone do they get thoroughly dried and if you cut one open you will be totally grossed out by the assorted growth inside. They're also not meant for long term continued use. Great for mouth suction on babies with a little linger fluid from birth but often nasal passages get damaged when folks start using them at home.
