The most creative thing I've ever witnessed to inspire a child was at the beach this past summer.

A mother carried her toddler to the beach and sat him down, then she started picking up rocks, sticks, driftwood, feathers and came back to him and together they made a sculpture; sticking the sticks in the sand, stacking rocks and embellishing with feathers, it was lovely and the child was completely engrossed with the sculptures progress. The resulting work was beautiful. I think that sort of activity fuels even more creativity at home.

That is cool! My son (age 5) is really into building things. He spends hours in the backyard digging canals for his boats, luckily we have an area set aside for his digging creations. One day this summer he came running into the house. He announced his fountain was ready for us to see. We go out there and were amazed. He had his sisters Barbie power wheels upside down, with the hose stuck through some PVC pipe and a milk crate. There was a metal dog dish somehow reflecting the water to the jeep wheels. He had a wagon standing on end and the hose was making the top wheels of the Barbie jeep and the top wheels of the wagon spin. Water was going everywhere. I have no idea how he made that work, but it was a sight to see. You should have seen the look on his face the first time he saw the Goonies with all those contraptions Data built, lol.

For X-mas he really wants Magnetics building set and a new building set called Gears. I can only imagine what he will build with that. I have to keep an eye on him. He likes to take things apart and that is not always a good thing!
