What's wrong with giving your family hundreds of Christmas gifts? Quite a bit, according to reaction one mom received on social media. Emma Tapping, a married mother of three, posted a photo of her family Christmas tree nearly buried under more than 300 gifts. She then saw the image shared thousands of times, often with nasty comments about materialism and spoiled children, UPI reports. "The way I see it is you can buy your kids two presents or 200 presents—it's the way you bring them up," Tapping said when defending herself on the British TV show This Morning.

While it really doesn't matter how many you buy, I certainly don't want to have to deal with a future adult that grew up expecting 300 gifts at Christmas......

I can't get spun up over how many gifts someone buys their kids.

I think she needs mental help. I used to way over spend, also over do everything (from baking to decorating to obsessing over finding the "perfect tree") trying to make up for my own childhood. Once I got therapy, I chilled waaaaaay out.

She's free to spend money however she sees fit, but my own experience with Christmas has shown me that after about five gifts, the kids lose interest.

It's ridiculous, just because there are a lot of wrapped presents it doesn't mean she spent thousands.

Conversely, you could have one box under the Christmas tree and it's a diamond necklace that was more than all of those presents combined.

Quantity doesn't mean expensive.

Though the fact this woman is getting flack is how ridiculous our world is.

Nobody would care at all if she hadn't thought it worthy of posting online.

Look at the picture- the tree is hardly visible, no wonder it was shared so many times!

You put something online, people WILL give their opinion on it. I don't know what response she expected, If she's seeking attention though, it's done the trick, shares, a TV interview, people talking about her.
