Tonight at the local mom's group, one of the members mentioned that she sends her toddler to a daycare that potty trains her toddler son for her. Is this a new trend, and how do they do this?

I know children who have been potty trained by daycare but they were fulltime. Part-time (3 days a week for a few hours) and my son actually was worse than at home. I'm sure its all about stability.

No, I mean they PAY the daycare to potty train their child, as in the daycare staff potty train the child. I'm just wondering how this works and how much it costs.

Our daycare did it at no cost, it was all part of the schedule. Strange they would charge for it.

I think she is talking about kids who don't go to the daycare except for the potty training service. I never heard of a daycare offering that though.

Potty training is part of the normal routine at my daughter's daycare.

That makes more sense that she would pay for just potty training. I remember hearing Bout this years ago when my kids were young.

How would just paying for potty training work? Doesn't the child need to be there all day so they can do it? And wouldn't that mean the child is essentially in full time daycare?

Strange, never heard of this.

If your child is in daycare full-time then the daycare helps this out (and copying other children the same age during the day), you continue on weekends.

If you are a SAHM then why not do it while at home? I guess you are paying temporary daycare to keep the child full-time until training is complete?

I admit potty training really sucks, my son is almost 4 and not even 50/50 although he has a disability, but I don't forsee it as something worth paying someone outside the house for! To each their own I guess.

I was going to say.... I never heard of a daycare that charges extra to potty train. They either do it there or don't. The day cares where I am potty train as they are assuming parents are also potty training at home so they don't want to interrupt the ongoing training. I had no idea how to potty train boys as I am a girl. I just asked them what they do and the teachers were happy to share with me so that way the kids are trained the same way at home and the lesson gets learned faster.
