Do you know any mothers who are codepedent with their child?

i.e., the mother does not maintain an identity separate of the child

Well, a woman's identity does change when she becomes a mother. Not sure I understand what you are getting at OP?

I don't know either, but I sense this thread going south quickly.

My mother has a tendency to be like that, but she's gotten better.

I've known people like that. You can detect them on forums because they've got user names like "so-and-so's mom".

I've known too, although I find some of them calm down once they have more than one child or their only child gets older and more independent. Some are like that when their child/ren are older, but a lot of it seems to just be a newness to motherhood in general.

I knew one like that, and her daughter was an adult. She passed away four years ago, and the daughter is not doing well at all because she never learned to function on her own.
