I hate gift cards. I have a drawer full of them. I gave some away, but they just keep accumulating.

To those giving iTunes gift cards...they are a horrible gift! iTunes is a HORRIBLE program that uses a stupid proprietary music format that can ONLY be played on iTunes, whereas something such as an Amazon card allows you to buy music that is in MP3 format that can be put on ANYTHING. I always gave my daughter an $100 Amazon gift card. Also, if her computer crashes or something happens to it it's gone forever, whereas with Amazon she can always get it back. iTunes needs to die in fire, a really ***** program!

Anything purchased on iTunes is not lost forever.

$25 to $50 is a good gift depending on what you can afford.

But, I would be cognizant of what other aunts and uncles are comfortable with giving. It isn't a good idea to outshine others in the family IMO.

OP, if your niece is 13, what have you done in prior years?

More like APPLE needs to die in a fire.

...
I have never given any of my nieces or nephews birthday (or Christmas or graduation presents) unless I was invited to their birthday party (or Christmas or graduation party). I would occasionally send them high quality children's books.

My siblings have also never given my children any birthday gifts, Christmas or graduation gifts because we haven't had any family parties for those occasions.

We love each other and spend a lot of time together but gift giving is not a big part of our lives.

I have a friend like that. She probably have hundreds of dollars in gift cards. I will never give her a gift card for a present. Me however loves gift cards but guess what? Nobody never gives me any

My budget is $25-$40 for 1st - 4th graders. But for a 13-yr old, I would be confortable spending from $50 to $75.

Give it cash orif you want you can put it on a pre-paid visa card but this will cost you coupleof bucks more. 40 is enough.
