Everyone says it because most people understand that mothers think that way. It's really not a difficult concept to grasp.
Yeah but to say I nearly died over exaggerates the situation, greatly.
I was able to text db and my grandmother that I had been in an accident. I even spoke with him on the phone in the ambulance.
I guess it's difficult for me to understand because I know I wasn't anywhere close to death. Some pretty serious pain which some powerful narcotics delivered via IV in the ambulance cleared up pretty well. I didn't even have life threatening injuries. The surgery I went through was more dangerous than the crash itself was.
No one wants to talk about it either and it helps me when I talk about it.
I'm still having flashbacks and that's the crappiest part.
Everyone knew from the get go I hurt my back because it was what cause the most pain. I may have fractured my foot too. It's just bruised they said, it'll go away they said....no it hadn't it's actually gotten worse to the point it pretty much hurts to put pressure on that foot.
The fact that you were in a serious car accident...not a fender bender, means that you nearly died. Your spine is in your back. Which, coincidently, you injured. Spinal injuries can be fatal. Contemplate that for a few seconds, minutes.

That does not mean I nearly died.
I did not sustain life threatening injuries.
I fractured my back, it's not broken. I never lost feeling or the ability to move my lower half, in fact I could move quite well it just hurt like hell.
At no point in the crash and after did I feel like I was close to death.
I'm out of most of them. All I have left is Vicodin and muscle relaxers. My pain level is to the point I can go without the Vicodin long enough to enjoy a night out with friends.
Perhaps all would be best served if the minutiae of your recovery was shared with your adoring fans on your blog.
Good point. This is how the chat thread ended up closed a while back.
