I dont see how she can say she was shocked if he gave her many warnings beforehand.

That's funny! Also the way kids used to be raised where I grew up. We were expected to do certain things and if we did not do what we were told, there were CONSEQUENCES.

I think that dad is brilliant. Hopefully she follows through. I think it's great that at least this story shows that the dad and daughter were talking about the incident and come up with a mutual agreement. Both kids and adults need to be able to communicate with one another in a household.

I live in a military town and if you get any assistance (BAH) then your superiors can do inspections of your home any time they feel the need. The entire home is expected to be clean and tidy at all times. Doesnt matter if the room belongs to your kids, a roommate, your pets, or if it is being used for storage. So when she said "their home is NOT the Army", yes, it is.

My daughter used to have a very messy room.

She's a girl who likes her privacy - she keeps her bedroom door closed most of the time.

Several years ago, after she repeatedly failed to keep her room orderly, I removed her bedroom door for a week.

Subsequently, she has kept her bedroom reasonably tidy...

I liked how the person was trying to chastise him by saying "if your goal was to humiliate your daughter in front of thousands of people."

Well, duh.

Isnt she the one that called the press? If so, seems to me her humiliation was of her own doing.

I agree, that is the key. I saw another story on this, and both father and daughter saw the humor in it. Dad also painted his daughter's room while the furniture was removed, and daughter promised to make more of an effort to keep it clean. + one for this family.
