If I remember right, I was advised when my daughter was a newborn to emphasise the difference between night and day. So not exactly try and keep her awake in the day but feeds and nappy changes during the day done with lights on and talking/singing/etc and feeds and nappy changes in the night done in the dark (well as dark as you can manage, obviously need to see something!) and quiet. It is an age thing that she will outgrow but this will help too.

Oh I miss the newborn stage!

Your precious baby girl, like many newborns, has her days and nights mixed up. Don't worry -- she will soon grow out of it! (This is one of the reasons for maternity leave, because the first weeks is all about adjusting). So long as she is gaining weight, she should be good.

WRap the child up in a swaddle at night. Infants awake themselves at night because of arms and legs that move constantly.

Purchase " Happiest baby on the block" by Dr. Karp. The 5 s's assured my kids always slept through the night, while establishing goos sleeping habits for later years.

LOL.. It does take some practice, but the good news is Babies R US sell the velcro swaddles. Makes it a bit faster.

Unless you have a baby who absolutely hates being swaddled..

My newest grand baby screams and cries when he is swaddled because he needs his arms out. He had his arms up by his face even in the womb and he cannot accept having them inside the swaddle.

What works for one baby....works for one baby. There is no one size fits all advice.

Patience, Grasshopper. You just have to let nature run its course. There will come that amazing night when you put the kid to bed around 7:30 and he conks out until 6 or 6:30 the next morning.
