Ok - So my 3 year old has this huge wart on top of her toe - It really hurts her. We went to the Pediatric dermatologist twice and both times he has applied the beetlejuice (I think that's what its called) and it really doesn't look any better. We go back next week for another treatment. Is there another avenue? Is there something else we should suggest? Sorry if this is the wrong forum, wasn't sure which forum.

I had a wart and went to the drug store and grabbed Dr Scholls Freeze Away. It worked after one treatment. Easy to use, cheap, and relatively painless. Why didn't they freeze it off at the doctors to begin with?

WTF
i've had lots of warts in my past. Sorry your 3 year old has this infection (its forever, it will return)
Anyway. . .What kind of granola pediatric dermatolgist uses beetlejuice?
I tried the freeze thing in the past (Dr Scholls) and i'm thinking with both a KID and the fact the Dr Scholls doesn't work well. . .to ask a dermatologist to hit it with some liquid nitrogen. Its similar to freeze away except you get a benefit of it working (its never failed me) and you can hold the kid as the nurse applies. I shudder to think about me trying to apply liquid cold to some 3 year old. Your talking about it falling off in days.
That is the most effective and quickest treatment out there. They bring in a can. They spray. You get a little blister and dead.
I can't see how it could be more dangersome to a kid than adult - but that is the doctor
the other option is cutting it out, i'm still scared by a cut in my hand some idiot doctor did. Don't let them do that!
Duct tape. I have 4 kids, all have had warts (me too!) tried every removal method out there. Finally decided to try the duct tape method on my 3 year old who would have nothing to do with freezing, cutting, scraping, etc., never thinking it would work.......but alas, after one week of constant duct tape coverage the wart magically disappeared! I am still amazed it was so simple. I was dropping $20 for a can of freeze away! I cut the tape a little bigger than the wart, covered the wart then topped it with a band aid. Changed it at least twice a day, morning & night, or if it became loose. One week. Good luck!
Our son had a wart on his knee when he was about 8. Our pediatrician told us about the duck tape method. We put duck tape over it at night and removed it every morning. I think this was for a week.Worked like a charm and has never returned.
My son had a huge wart on his cuticle a few years ago. The dermatologist prescribed some type of powder chemo drug. He never got around to using it but the wart is gone. I asked him how he got rid of it, and he said he scraped it with a nail file everyday, and it eventually went away.
The old folk remedy was castor oil, applied topically (I think twice a day), then covered with a Band-Aid.
Warts come and go, and they're common in children. Since the location of this wart is causing your daughter pain, it's important to get it treated (in whatever way works).
BTW, if you choose to have it frozen or injected, pop a piece of hard candy into your daughter's mouth just as the needle or spray hits - the sweet taste will distract the brain from feeling the pain as much as would otherwise be the case. Mary Poppins was right. This works well for regular childhood innoculations and booster shots, too ( if readers try this with small children, just be sure they're old enough to eat hard candy without danger of choking).
OP, please dont use any product on a 3 year old unless you get doctors OK.
The beetle juice will work eventually. Took care of my husbands warts that he still had after freezing at the doctors office. Try it a few more times.
