I'd want to know exactly how the parents were abusive to the flight crew. I doubt the police would have been called just because a two year old was wailing.

I wondered the same thing and searched for the answer earlier this evening.
The mother "threw rubbish at a flight attendant and tried to incite the people around her."
Look like something missing. When my daughter was 15 months her first flight was a night mare, she yelled very loudly during the take off. No one called police. If the police involved that mean something terrible happened than child is being suborn or .yelling or screaming
Even though its the Daily Fail it does make the story make much more sense now. Seems so unlikely the police would be called unless the parents really were doing something wrong like that.

Here are other news articles that say the same thing, except replacing rubbish with trash.
Airlines should carry earplugs for times like these. Or perhaps make it mandatory for parents to in case of such outbursts. It's not like other passengers can just walk away.
Check out this comment from a passenger who was on the plane:

Time for a true account of what really went on . I was there folks...sitting in the seat next to "daddy". The flight attendants were doing their job and the parents were ready for a fight right off the bat! They were asked to seat the boy and told the attendants that they "would not because he will scream!" Please do not think the parents were treated like criminals...they were not! One side of a story does not make it true!
"A spokesman for Frontier tells 5 on Your Side the captain of the plane involved police because the spokesman says the Khalfin's were verbally and physically abusive to the flight staff. Claiming Sam's mother, Regina, threw trash at an attendant, and tried to incite those around her."
"The airline says the Khalfin's refused to comply with instructions to use a seatbelt on their son."

I'm a 25-year-old station manager for WN (Southwest) and yes, after you've worked at the airport for awhile, you pretty much see everything humanity has to offer (both physically and metaphysically). We've had parents try to fudge toddler age so they can get a free seat, families arrive thirty minutes before the flight and try to check in, families who pack the family car in their checked luggage (one family of four tried to check 15 large suitcases, we tried to charge them the fees and the ADULTS had all-out temper tantrums), families who leave piles of trash and huge messes in our 737 airframes, and the list goes on. Yes, we have removed families with unruly children from aircraft and compensated them until the next flight was available. You were delayed? Tough. Teach your kids to behave, and then board the plane. Disney isn't going anywhere. Sometimes I feel terrible for our CSAs, Flight Attendants, and gate agents. They are yelled at daily by these goofy parents for honoring company policy, and then they demand to see a manager who says the same thing. And the ending is always the same, they "threaten to call corporate" and we never see them again. So glad I'm not part of today's generation! F9 (Frontier) was totally acting acceptably in this issue.
