Thanks!
It starts in many girls about this age...it's in the range of normal. My own daughter started showing signs at 8...but it was a slow progression to full on puberty around 12.

They are still little girls...geeesh.

This thread makes me thankful that I was a late bloomer. I can't imagine dealing with puberty stuff at 8 years old! It does seem to be trending younger though:

I guess my daughter is a late bloomer, she's 10 and has zero signs of puberty. We had her start showering daily and wearing deodorant but she doesn't really need to. She's nearly 5ft tall but only 70lbs, I thought maybe her low body fat % had something to do with it, she eats like a teenage boy but just gets taller.

My now 12 year olds started getting breast buds at least a year ago and started with defined waist around 10.5. No periods yet but they are prepared. Deordorant about 6 months ago. Attitude for about 2 years now!

My oldest started wearing bras when she was 9. She grew body hair about the same time. She had been wearing deodorant since she was 7. She got her period when she was 11 but it was only every few months at first and didn't get regular until just before she turned 12. She has acne and greasy hair issues, showers often but still ends up with greasy hair. She's always been tall for her age, usually in the 95th percentile for height and the 90th for weight.

My youngest is 9 now and has no signs of puberty and does not need deodorant or a razor. She's very short and about 20lbs overweight. I've bought her some tank tops with the bras in, but she has no interest in wearing regular training bras.

And I have to say, if you think shopping for training bras is bad, it gets worse. My oldest wants to wear Victoria's Secret bras (which are really well made, I have to admit) and her dad refuses to even walk into that store, much less buy her anything there.

I recently saw a short video on the observation that the average onset of puberty for girls is becoming earlier.

My older daughter did not show any signs until 11. She is very tall, and I think she was just growing "up" like crazy for a number of years, then finally started filling out. Period started at 13.5, which compared to her friends (yeah, we moms talk about these things) is on the later side these days.

My younger daughter will be 12 in December. By the age of 10 she was definitely going into puberty, with breast buds and underarm hair. I don't think she will be as tall as my older one, and I suspect that she will start her periods within the next year.

.
This is how I think my daughter will be. She's the tallest in her class but there are lots of girls wearing bras and my daughter doesn't even have hair on her legs. I worry that she may be one of those 16yr olds who just gets her period.

The video link was interesting too, I don't know if it actually makes a difference but we've always eaten hormone free milk and meat.

Don't worry. The later, the better...for a number of reasons.
