Most of the good parents I see do these kinds of things. The true test is ultimately when you aren't around to see what they do. I never knew how well behaved my kids actually were until they started going to school and going over to other people's houses to hang out with their friends. If anything, my kids are better behaved when they are not with my wife and I, lol. From others we hear this same statement. Apparently familiarity does breed contempt.

I think you will find as the kids get older, that you may want to switch to a simple reminder before the situation followed by an "after action report" about how they did (let the little stuff go), versus the constant on the spot reminders. Ultimately, the biggest influencer isn't your reminders to them, but the example you yourself set.
