You've changed your tune pretty quickly. Just last week you were boasting of how you never cook and ovens areirrelevant. Now you're suddenly into eating healthily?

Does anyone know what this man is taking about?

Perhaps it's a "popular method of discipline".
But only for uneducated, knuckle dragging morons.
It's child abuse. Hurting/torturing a child to teach him right from wrong is shameful.

I keep my hot sauces put up so my kid can't get into them. I'd never use them as punishment. That is just cruel with the amount of heat in some of the sauces on the market. Why would anyone think this is a good idea?

Heck, in my family, I only know of one aunt that likes to bake a lot. Most of us are on the go too much to spend hours in the kitchen. When we do use the oven, it's never for anything bigger than a medium/large pizza. Once in a blue moon we'll make a small batch of brownies or cookies. We use our cooktop/microwave a lot and we eat out 3-4x/week. The only meals we could possibly have time to prepare in the oven are on the weekends, but who wants to spend any part of the weekend in the kitchen? Now for those with 5-6+ people in the house, sure - a large oven is probably needed.

One can buy a very large toaster oven for $100 that's big enough to cook two large pizzas or even a whole chicken. Therefore, it seems like for many people a huge oven is a waste of space. Aesthetically, it seems like all the nice looking ovens are over $1000. That's a lot to pay for something that's rarely used, prone to breaking and expensive to fix. IMO, eliminating the oven also gives the kitchen a cleaner more streamlined appearance.

What say you?

I'd guess it's the other thread you started about how an oven is irrelevant and you mostly eat out and use the microwave (i.e. all conventionally junk kinds of food). It's possible that your original post was self-effacing, but it certainly came off as the preachy "junk food is child abuse" viewpoint that some people espouse.

Also, I'd wager that "WildColonialGirl" is not a man.

Yeah I don't think so.

Couldn't it be abusive to feed a child junk food regardless of what the parents eat?

You never know.

It has been around for awhile but, it is disgusting. Anyone who does this or soap to a child needs serious parenting skills.

You never know.
It certainly could be abusive to give children something parents regularly consume (e.g. drugs), but most people don't consider junk food abusive. There are some people who do, of course, but they tend to be people who consider junk food an actual poison and avoid it themselves.

While I don't know the sex of WildColonialGirl, I'd wager that it is female.
