The boy is 14. The mother found Hustler mags from the 1980s. She took them, confronted him with them in front of the whole family (including grandparents), and sentenced him to weekly therapy for 3 months.
I am told he is in therapy because she is convinced he is a sex addict just because a few of the pages were stuck together. And yet, the mags are nearly 30 years old! How does she know they weren't in that condition before he got a hold of them?
I feel sorry for the chap...and I am happy to report I have heard he has been uncooperative with his therapist.
Perhaps your time would be better spent worrying about what you'd like rather than telling me what I should or should not care about.
Many women in the sex industry are emotionally damaged, abused people who are making the decision to be in the industry out of a place of pain and helplessness. All of them? No. Enough of them do though and I won't support it.
By expecting a teenager to know this, you're expecting him to somehow have a lot more knowledge of these things than you actually want, aren't you? Unless you've discussed exploitation of women in the porn industry with him and made it clear the stuff isn't allowed in the house, how could you punish him? Have a discussion about the exploitation if you want to, but don't make him feel like he was intentionally disrespecting these women because he wasn't.

I thought I made it quite clear I probably wouldn't punish him first time out though I'm sure my stance on the exploitation of other humans is already well known in my house and social circle.

The father should have hid his collection better. Teenage boys are going to search.
Last year my parents were getting rid of some old furniture and I took the dresser from my old bedroom. When removing it from the house, I took all the drawers out first. Beneath the bottom drawer I found two Hustlers, a Penthouse and a couple Playboy magazines- my brother's and my old porn stash. We had found them in a neighbor's recycle bin. I don't know how many times my mother or dad caught my brother and I looking at those magazines when we were teens and gave us the lecture- but they never took them away (my mother wanted to, my dad was "let boys be boys"). I took them out and showed them to my parents when I found them and we all had a good laugh.
About the only time we got in big trouble was one rainy Saturday afternoon- my brother, 13 at the time, his best friend and me, 14, all in my bother's and my bedroom looking at the magazines. Mom came back from the store and we didn't hear her pull in the driveway. She came in, opened our bedroom door to tell us something and the three of us were all lying side-by-side on the bed having, well, "a contest" if you know what I mean. Mom went through the roof and when dad got home me and little bro got the lecture of our lives.

At age 14???? No, I don't know what you mean, and I'm not sure I want to.
Kinda early for this kind of memory on an old thread.
