So my daughter is tall and very leggy. I have a hard tine finding jeans that fit her properly even in the slim sizes so most of her non-winter clothes are dresses.
When she was four, I bought all her summer dresses in size five for the length and took them in at the bodice and straps. Now that she's nearly five, I ve bought her some dresses in size six to do the same.
Im confused by the sizing though. I notice there is both 6 and 6x sizes for most of the dresses I look at. I've been told by store personal that 6x dresses are slim cut but longer, that they are what used to be called "husky" for bigger girls (like how there was 5 and 5t for the girls that hadn't lost their toddler chubbiness yet), and I've been told that 6x is both fuller cut and longer? Anyone know what the real deal is?
I have a daughter from age 9, I bring her to the store let her to fit if that fit what ever the size I am buying, that is way of me dealing with that damn sizes, by the way here in EU we have different sizes, if you want to know the real deal , store personal want to sell you something then she get the selling bonus
I just googled the question "What is the difference between size 6 and 6x"...basically the 6x will give you more length and be a teeny bit bigger (if you are already having to alter the strap length, I would go for the 6x size for the extra length).
I've found that there's enough variation between clothes, even the same size and same brand, that my daughter has to try them on. I could never tell much of a difference between 6 and 6x when my kids were that size, some things would fit and others wouldn't.
Since she's very slender, you might try smaller capri pants as Bermuda shorts for her during the summers, if she ever wants a change from dresses. My daughter used to be very small and very slender, but now we have a different problem, she's only 4 feet tall but needs a size 16, so sometimes we buy capri pants and she uses them as jeans.
