It doesn't matter how many times you've gone grocery shopping or how many groceries that you have. How many times do you hear your kids say "I'm starving, there's no food in the house"? Just something to laugh about.

Ahh, we are just dealing with that dilemna right now. I finally told my son that we don't have enough food for all his various appetites and that he just needs to pick one thing and eat it until he is full. It is driving me crazy! (and he is only six--I've got a loooong way to go!)

I read a comic strip a couple of weeks ago that sums this problem up nicely. The son says there is no food...mom says she just went to the store and there is all kind of food! To which the son replies...yeah but all you got is ingredients!!

That's usually true....they want things ready to eat! haha

I have teens, so you know what they like to eat. I get the ready to eat stuff too. I think they are just too lazy to heat it up. I get "Can I borrow the car to go to Wendy's?". They have no clue what no food means.

Hate to admit it, but dh and I do the same thing. I have no idea what this phenomenon is called - but I can buy everything we like on the list and then some - and we still end up ordering out.

I think it's exhaustion on my part as I have no energy to cook - as for the rest of them, I hear ' it just isn't what I want right now'.

I once thought about skipping the groebery, buying only the essentials and making friends with the restaurants in town. Oh what a really lazy mom I would be!

No answers, but I feel your pain!

I know, I know, it's absolutely ridiculous. I can cook reasonably well and can be quite resourceful at times... yet I often stand in front of our completely full fridge/freezer/pantry and think ... what on earth can we eat?

I think we just have too much choice - trying to decide... ooo... what do we want tonight?...Thai? Chinese? Mexican? Italian? the list goes on and on.

Insane.

I'll translate that to what they really mean (at least as pertains to my family):
"I'm starving, there's no junkfood in the house?"

Then there's always this one: "There's nuthin to do...", as they pass by their room full of toys and the garage full of conveyances. (My kids weren't allowed to watch TV to fill time)
