Nobody believes parents should stop reading to kids. If you read the source document that was posted later in this thread, you can see that the author was simply stating that reading does give kids an advantage (duh, not news). He does not recommend that parents stop, though, as reading to kids promotes a beneficial familial bond. He did state that parents should reconsider private schooling as it gives an advantage and does nothing to promote familial bonding. That's a bit more of a controversial subject, actually. Everybody can agree that reading to your kids is a great idea, but private schooling has both pros and cons.
