Even if a child of such a young age is brushing and flossing properly they can still get tooth decay. Cavities can be caused by diet, lack of fluoride, the shape of teeth, parents’ dental history and the general chemistry and bacteria in the mouth.
In my DD's case, the problem was fruit snacks. We thought they were sooo much better for her than chocolate and candy. Nope - the fruit snacks stick and are actually worse for young people's teeth than sugary snacks that melt and are easier to brush away
Yep. Have a lot of friends with kids in this age group and it seems pretty common. I think maybe it seems odd to people our age because when we were younger we didn't go the dentist as often back then. When I was younger, we only went when we had problems and not for regular checkups and stuff.
