Have you ever met a male named Lindsay? Ezra? Tesla? Angel?

What other names can you think of that males have had, which you expected to be female names?

Yep.
I know several Ezras - I have never thought it to be a girls name!
And Angel is a common male name in certain cultures.
Lindsay/Lindsey/Linzi - all girls.
Have not come across a Tesla of either sex!

I met a male Shirley and a male Ashley.

I have more difficulty with names I think are male, turning out to belong to females. It's very common in the south. I think Peyton as being a guy's name, but know three girls with that name. Cameron too. I know longer assume anything.

When I was a receptionist we had an employee named Ezra. New clients would often call asking for "her."

According to appellationmountain.net, in 2013 there were 133 girls and 13 boys named Tesla.

Presumably for the great inventor Nikola Tesla who has been receiving well-deserved but long overdue posthumous recognition lately. Since it was his last name, I can see how it can be used for either gender. Female because it ends in an -a, and male because Nikola Tesla was a man!

Ah yes, those are good examples too. I've known a guy Shirley and a guy Ashley before.
