The child will be tormented in school. It would, however be a perfectly good name for a small dog or a hamster.
As a middle school teacher, I can attest that this is a valid point. Some kids roll with the punches and having a weird (or different) name is no big deal. But, if your child turns out to be sensitive this can cause some serious stress.

I had friends named Candy and Bambi who both swore they had a hard time getting job interviews because of their names. Candy went so far as to get hers legally changed to Candace.

It's the name of a province where I come from (Canada) and we have a big bank that is named after it.
It's "almost" like naming a kid Bank of America or something similar. Or it's like naming someone Ohio in my opinion.

Apollo is a great name though.
Some state names are pretty common...Dakota, Montana, Carolina, Georgia, Florida (not seen much anymore), Viginia, Arizona, Nevada....but I agree that Nova Scotia doesn't work very well.

I think Nova could be a nice name for a girl.

There was a girl I went to high school with whose younger sister was Nova....never asked how she got the name...the sister's was Donna so it seemed a bit random.
Still don't think Nova with Scotia works that well though.
Not a fan. I wouldn't pick Apollo, but I've heard worse. Pairing it with Nova Scotia -- no. Just don't. I think most people would assume you're alluding to the Canadian province, rather than Scotland.
