I read something just now. There are 19 states that allow spanking in school. Most of them are in the South: LA, MS,AL,GA,SC,NC,TN,KY,AR. Some are in the West: TX, WY,OK,ID.
I have noticed this. Most of the states that have and can still use corporal punishment in school have led, or still lead the nation in violent crime, particularly murder.
I looked up data for Alabama. That state has frequently made the top 10 for murder, and has ranked #1 5 times during the 60s. Georgia was quite violent too, as far back as the 50s and 60s.
If spanking is so effective, then why are the places that use it the most also have issues with violence?
But I'm not sorry I was disciplined when necessary and grew up to be a well-adjusted teen and adult, with a college education moving onto grad school and everything. Never been arrested, never even been pulled over. But I know - poor me. I was "abused."
Most victims of childhood abuse don't think they were abused. They think it was appropriate and they deserved it.
