My son and step-son are both 2-3.

Right now, the Monster Jam series of Hot Wheels monster trucks is a big hit with them. They have a few and take one to sleep with them every night.

My boys loved their play kitchen at that age. They also love trucks...garbage trucks, construction trucks, emergency vehicles. Magformers are great. And I agree with the other poster about giant cardboard boxes.

What gets him really excited? Do you spend time with him in order to see what makes him light up? Kids that age go through phases...I have a two year old grandson, and last summer it was tractors. Tractors were the bomb. We could have changed his name to "John Deere". He had sweats and T's with John Deere tractors. We get "Country" magazine, and he'd sit there just looking at the pages of lawnmower and tractor ads. At Tractor Supply, he'd be in heaven. Or the playground...if they were cutting the grass with a tractor, you couldn't get him away from watching it. Then he discovered "Thomas" (the train). Watching it on Netflix/HuLu with him, seeing him get so worked up (and not being able to get Ringo Starr's voice out of me 'ead). Now it's trains and choo choo's. Needless to say, it's going to be a "Thomas" Christmas. Books, toys, clothes.

Find out what his passion is, there's always something that gets a two year old frantically excited. And enjoy this age! It's priceless!
