"Among American favorites is the Hot Dog – a fourth of July staple that’s eaten at least once a week in most households." YUCK! I cannot imagine eating hot dog once a week. Once every .... long time. Maybe.

And...
you CAN get nitrite free hot dogs.
The article states: "The study examined the relationship between the intake of certain foods and the risk of leukemia in children from birth to age 10 in Los Angeles County between 1980 and 1987 (3)."
But fails to tell you the conclusion of that study, which includes "Consumption of hot dogs/lunch meats was not associated with risk of childhood leukemia, thus lending no support to the N-nitroso hypothesis (5)."
That article is garbage, especially as much of the data is over 20 years old.
We studied obese people and found that many of them have been to the zoo. In other words, there was a positive relationship found between people who go to the zoo and obesity. This has many implications.
Obvious one is to avoid the zoo, lest you become obese.
But another is that, because people who go to the zoo are presumably walking, we can deduce that walking has no affect on obesity.
That of course needs further study but in the meantime, we recommend that nobody go to the zoo and to stop walking!

There are a lot of factors involved in increased Cancer risk. Just eating hotdogs might not be the actual reason children get Leukemia. While it might factor into the risk it's too early to blame the hotdogs themselves the risk alone. Not exercising, diets low in green vegetables, smoking, and increased sugar intake all play a part.
And people continue to not only accept this drivel as truth, but spread the misinformation through message board links. Probably on social media also!
