We used a lava lamp for years. It was soft (40 watt bulb) and was rather hypnotic. Kept the room bright enough that darkk wasn't an issue, but they were able to fall asleep.

Empower your child.
Our son with overactive imagination thought a witch lived under his bed when he was quite young. A nightlight was always on but he needed more.
A hat made from rolled up plastic turkey net (well washed) called the witch hat was made. Whenever he became worried he was to put on the witch hat & clap his hand 4 times and say "witch be gone". Worked like a charm.

I've tried searching his room before going to sleep and that hasn't worked much. I downloaded this monster scanning app this morning (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...byebyemonsters) , which hopefully will help. I can report back here tomorrow with an update on how it worked.

Has anyone here had any success overcoming your kids' fears? Is this something that he simply needs to outgrow or does anyone here have any suggestions of something I can try? If your kid acted the same way, at what age did he or she outgrow it?
I am more than a few decades old and still afraid of the dark, it's creepy! Love the monster scanning app, that's cool. My cousin go her kid a glow animal that shoots lights on the ceiling, the kid loves it.

I'm 50 and I'm still afraid of the dark and sleep with the light on.

It doesn't help that I can see spirits and our last home was in the middle of an Indian burial ground.
