Thats really an odd thing to be proud of. Weird.. Frankly everyone I know sends their kid to preschool somewhat because almost everyone in my social group works and the few that dont still send their kids to preschool perhaps part time - a couple of days a week or half day programs.. Its just what you do as far as i know and doesnt make you any better than those that dont send their kids
I think I was pretty much the last of my generation in my area that didn't go to preschool. And I was the exception. I was homeschooled for pre-K. And I did just fine.
I had two who attended preschool and one who did not. The last one was at home because we moved, and there were no spots available when we finally settled in our new community. I can't say I was treated any differently based on whether or not my child was in preschool. On the other hand, I have run into people who've judged me for better and for worse based on my car, my house, my job (or lack of one), and my husband's career path. So, who knows? Preschool attendance might be a status indicator in your neighborhood. And with that said, my advice is the same: try not to let the jerks get under your skin.
It's that way in our city. There seems to be a "my child is more smart/social than yours because MY child goes to preschool and yours doesn't" type of mentality, plus there is the status symbol of parents who brag about paying tuition.
When our son was 2-1/2, the school psychologist indicated that he was almost kindergarten level academically. I take him out at least 5x/week to places where he is exposed to hours of socialization with other kids (parks, library, Lego kids club, indoor play areas, etc). I plan to enroll him in Pre-K early next year.

I'm still waiting on an explanation on this one as well.
It's an expectation of living in the area where I live. It's just what parents do. You don't have to, it's not required, but everyone that I know that has kids have them go to preschool for at least 1 year prior to entering kindergarten.
Yes, I notice that this OP rarely comeback to the several threads that she started recently.
