What age is too young for the Twilight movies?

I'm not into them so I don't "get" the obsession. Some girls in my DSD's troop are and now she is following suit. She's never seen the movies.

I'd say under 12 is too young.

I think it depends on the child. My daughter is turning 11 and has read all four books and has seen the first two movies and we are going to see the third next week. Personally, I don't think there's much in the first two movies that children don't already see on t.v. but I also realize that I'm a little more relaxed about t.v. and movies than most parents.

Same as dvcgal. My daughter is 10. She's read the books and seen the movies. She's going to a sleepover next week where they're all going to the midnight showing of the new movie.

I figure that if I was able to see stuff like Eddie Murphy's Raw when I was a kid and I turned out ok, then she'll be fine.

Of course, I have a friend who is constantly trying to get me to stop letting her see the movies, or watch anything my friend doesn't consider "appropriate". sheesh. Fortunately, she's my kid, so I just smile and nod and keep going.

So funny I remember sneaking to someone's house to see Raw as a kid too.

I think 9 or 10 is fine. Really the only problem I have with the books is that she deceives her parents quite a bit. Otherwise, Bella is (while a little whiny) a good friend and daughter who practically runs the household and falls in love but doesn't have sex until she's married.

ETA: Honestly she probably deceives her parents as much as Hannah Montana does on a regular basis

My daughter 9 is reading the twilight books right now She has seen the movies and loves them and wants of course to see the third installment. There is nothing racy or obsene about the characters at all.

I let my 9 yr old son watch the movies, but I won't let him read the books. Too many sexual references. I won't mind when he is 12 or so, after we have begun discussing such matters, but right now it would confuse him. Not much sexual in the movies.
