My LO is 6 months old and had her 6 months vax on Monday the 20th. On wednesday we were driving in the car for about 1.5 hr total. I looked in my mirror and my LOs head was tilted down like she was sleeping and her eyes were open. I said her name but she didnt respond. We did it again and it was like she woke up. I was totally scared but my hubby and i just thought she was falling asleep. She did it again and then I really freaked we tapped her and its like she woke up and just resumes how she always is. No daze no tiredness nothing. I brought her to the PED and he said if it was a seizure she would have been tired or groggy or dazed for a while after. Her vitals and temp were normal everything was fine. Its been 24 hrs and nothing has happened again. I noticed the bubbles on the car seat were in a forward position maybe leaning her forward when she was trying to fall asleep though so that may explain the head tilted forward but does anyone have any experience with this? HELP worried mom.
Is it really necessary to make rude comments when I am asking if someone else has experienced this? I DID take my BABY to the doctor if you had read my post but I wanted to know if anyone else has had this experience and what was the end result. The doctor reassured me he thinks shes okay.
Keep an eye on her for a while. If you are very concerned, co-sleep. One of my kids has a strange/rare sleep disorder and the pediatrician *totally* missed it. Said it was "my child choosing to do it. It took seeing a sleep specialist to get to the bottom of it. And she took it seriously right off the bat because she knew the signs. So if you keep seeing things, push for a consult.
What you describe sounds like dissociation to me. AKA "spacing out" in a normal kid. I have seen my kids do very similar things when just chilling and somewhat bored. Ive seen one of my kids do it while walking, snap to and say "where are we?.
My daughter has a new diagnosis of a genetic disorder in which most kids with it have seizures, so I have heard a lot about seizures lately. Most kids with my daughter's diagnosis have early onset of seizures that start in infancy, and several report that seizures can be triggered by vaccines. There is a possibility that my daughter has had seizures too, and we just never knew it because we didn't know what to look for. I have been watching some videos on YouTube of absence seizures (petit mal), and they do just look like the kid zoned out for a few seconds. When I look at their videos, it is often hard for me to tell that anything is out of the ordinary. Seizures are not always the convulsing kind that we often think of. If it happens again, I would try to take a video so that you can show your doc or a specialist what it looks like. That's what I see people doing in the FB group for kids with my daughter's disorder.
You can search on YouTube, but here is a video that shows a baby having some different types of seizures. I would focus most on absence seizures based on what you said.
My son had the type of seizures where he would just space out but he would be excessively tired after having them. What you are describing doesn't really sound like seizures cuz the baby is alert when she did snap out of it. You could always go to a neurologist and have a eeg done, that might show something. My son eventually grew out of it thankfully.
I do remember an instance when my sister was a baby and she was dead asleep where we had to wake her up by hand and nothing ever came of it, just tired I suppose.

I think so too.
