But the youngest my kid ever was on a plane was 14 months old.
He got his own plane seat and we went to an international destination where you went from airport to dock to boat to resort.
So no cars.
A year later, we just had one in our rental car. It was totally fine, I installed it (they will not install it), everything peachy.
When we went to Mexico, we had the transfer company install a car seat in their van for the ride from airport to resort for infant daughter.
We didn't and would ship a cheap one to the destination instead if we were going to be there for a while. We mostly traveled to family or on week long vacations though so it wasn't a big deal to do that. We actually bought a convertible car seat that we leave at my inlaws for when we visit.
