When you were younger , how many children did you want to have? (teaching, infants)

I don't think I ever pondered how many children I was going to have when I was younger, but I do remember pretending the kids I'd babysit were mine. I always felt so mature and grown up when I babysat.
I wanted six and have for many years. I have six, though I had them way faster than I envisioned as a teen!
We may have another two or three in a few years, I’m on the fence. I had some health problems with this last baby and he has some special needs, so it’s been an intense year. I can’t say I’m done forever though
Since both of us came from large families and couldn't imagine not having one ourselves, we planned on six. Then we thought four would be perfect. That plan went down to three quite rapidly, then two. The Good Lord blessed us with one.
The first child tends to be the best birth control method in existence.
Really? The more kids I had the more I wanted. Different strokes I guess
I never wanted children, even when I was a child myself. I told my parents I wanted to marry the dog and have puppies.
I never had children and have never changed on that lack of desire. I do feel for those who wanted children and for whatever reason, have been unable to have them (health, relationship, etc.). I do feel parenthood should be consciously chosen, not assumed.
And yes, I adopt senior dogs and do not call them "my fur kids."
O.....and I had the perfect amount.....O. Sorry people, I always wanted to be the racehorse, not a broodmare. I have never changed my stance.....no regrets.
I'm an only child, so growing up was LONELY as , and it was a regular occurrence to boot. To make matters worse, my parents weren't big on playing with me, although they occasionally humored me with a board game or chess. I ended up spending a lot of time playing alone with my action figures and Legos, and later, video games. (I had friends on the same block, that I could visit without crossing the street, but it's not the same.) I begged my parents to have another child, but they wouldn't budge. So I wanted to have 5 kids: identical, fraternal, or within several years of each other. It didn't matter how many boys or girls; I just wanted my future kids to have a rich, fun life while growing up.
Somehow over the years, the pendulum swung the opposite direction. Today, I'm staunchly childfree, and don't even feel comfortable around kids younger than high school age. I'm even looking into an operation to make sure I can't have kids by accident, but that topic doesn't belong on the Parenting forum, now does it?
In retrospect, I'm kind of glad I didn't know where babies come from until a relatively older age. (I was vaguely aware of "mommy's tummy" and what-have-you, but nothing detailed.) Otherwise, who knows how I might have tried to thwart my parents' pregnancy prevention methods. Plus, when wanting 5 kids, I now realize I overlooked my future wife's health limitations. I can't imagine most women today carrying 5 babies in a row.
Six. LOL. Turns out that I am not cut out for that. 3 is great. I might have been ok with 4, but 3 is good.
