I don't often visit the Parenting forum as I am a bio-mom. I do know plenty of parents/grandparents, though, as most of us do.

This was a big story a day or two ago.

Montreal parents livid after daughter forced to scrub her own pee

How would you feel if that was your daughter?

I swear, in all my years on this planet, I've never heard a story like this!

I'm not sure I really have a problem with it. Accidents and messes do happen. We clean them up and move on.

Reminds me of Magdalene Laundries.

My first thought was "oh my kid's preschool did this". But then I read the story and it was meant to punish and shame the child.

When my kids were in pre-K and they had an accident, the teacher or assistant would help them change and clean up the accident...something they did together. It was done with a light heart and I saw it happen more then once and it wasn't punitive at all. It was teaching life skills.

I will say, the other kids didn't bat an eye if a kid had an accident. At 4 years old, accidents at school were still a part of life...so I don't know if the other children would add to the shame of the girl. But the method in this story does seem punitive, which isn't appropriate for any 4 year old (even if they had a habit of it).
