Good point. Caroline and Julia are acceptable names for a baby girl/adult woman. I wouldn't discourage the OP from using either one, but I wouldn't use them myself.

Julia is elegant and professional.
Caroline might be okay but it doesn't sound classy nor professional but not bad either.
For both, leave the correct spelling and don't add a "y or "k"", like so many do these days - Juliyea or Karolyn - eww.

I prefer Julia, but they are both good names for babies, children, teens, and adults, and both have some great nicknames should your child be so inclined (Cari, Carlie, Lin, Julie, Jules, Jul).

I do like the pronunciation "Care-oh-linn" much rather than "Care-oh-line".

I like the "linn" ending, but I wouldn't say the first syllable like "care". That may just be differences in regional accents, though. Sounds southern that way.

I have a niece Caroline. We pronounce the first syllable of her name as Neil Diamond does in the song above.
